The owner, Laurie Smith originated from Findlay, Ohio. She grew up and worked along side her father, - Larry Lauger in the flooring business for over 30 years. Attending every flooring trade show and working in every position in her father's company, provided plenty of experience to open a store of her own.
Along with her flooring experience, Laurie decided to get an Interior Design Degree from a well respected Design School in New York. "Having the design degree has really helped when working with customer on color and design ideas."
"The biggest challenge customers have is selecting the right color of carpet or flooring styles that work best for his or her taste", said Laurie.
Why We're Different
When you shop at Laurie's Flooring & Window Fashions, expect a completely different experience all together. When you first walk into the store, you will notice that it is not like any other flooring store out there. There are no wide open ceilings with fluorescent lights and there are no people wearing aprons. What you'll find is a very homey feel to the store. There are dedicated rooms to each floor style and a large window treatment area that hosts thousands of fabric and blind samples.
The people and installers who work at Laurie's Flooring & Window Fashions all have over 20 years experience in the business and can answer just about any question you may have.
The business was established in 2005 and was formerly called The Home Decorating Center. The first store was located on Main Street in downtown Troy, Ohio. As the business grew, so did the need for more space and better parking.
After finding the perfect building and location, owner Laurie Smith decided to change the name to Laurie's Flooring & Window Fashions.
Always struggling with the name "Home Decorating Center" the customer assumed it was a typical decorating store, until they walked in. What they realized was that it was a full service floor store with a window treatment department.
Laurie's mother, who recently passed away in 2007 always suggested that it should be named "Laurie's". So, in honor of Peg, Laurie's late mother, the new name and location is Laurie's Flooring & Window Fashions and is located at 105 W. Market Street (across from Wal-Greens).
